about
the artist:
Every chair, every
desk, every mirror has a story to tell. But the road is long, and
furniture doesn’t tell tales. Still, determined pieces make their
way to artist Judy Rickenbacher’s studio where Judy, a genuine
“furniture whisperer,” deftly coaxes the history out of well-worn
wood and nails. Working with mostly vintage pieces, Judy uses found
furniture as a palette for combined artwork, faux painting, and
historical and cultural ornament. These one-of-a-kind,
heirloom-quality home furnishings and accessories appeal to those of
us eager to embrace “home-grown” over “mass-produced.” Judy
finds the challenge of commission work irresistible as well.
Judy is an
intrinsic, self-taught artist, but has enhanced her instinctive style
with selective art and interior design courses on the collegiate
level. “I seem to learn best when left to my own discovery.” Judy
also spent time with The Sherwin-Williams Company, where her
understanding of paint technology and design was polished to near
perfection.
If you
cherish down-to-earth, if community, country and effortless simplicity
beckon you, then Judy just may have a treat in store with your name on
it. Enjoy!
